Booking Policy


Reservation and Payment

Full payment is required to confirm a booking, and may be made by credit card, cash, money order, bank transfer and certified check payable in US dollars. Payments from outside of Honduras must be made via credit card or bank transfer.

Prices and payments are in US Dollars, including credit card transactions. Discover Roatan Excursions & Tours (hereafter referred to as DRET) is not responsible for any billing discrepancies as a result exchange rates or foreign exchange transaction fees. Local Payments: Payments by money order, bank draft or certified check can be mailed locally to RasXpress Northeast of the Airport, Box 817, Coxen Hole, Roatan, Honduras or delivered to the Discover Roatan Excursions & Tours Office in Coxen Hole, Roatan.

Foreign Visitors: Payments by money order, bank draft or certified check should be delivered to Discover Roatan Excursions & Tours, Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras.

Arrival & Departure Times

DRET does provide specific pickup times, but may vary due to cruise ship schedule changes & delays. However, DRET uses real-time tracking of cruise ships for arrival & departure times, and unless specified in writing, excursion/tour participants are to disembark from the cruise ship upon docking, no earlier than 7:15am. Port exit & meet-up instructions will follow in a separate email at time of purchase to the booking party’s email address used during the reservation.

DRET assumes no responsibility if booking party fails to access port exit & meet-up instructions timely. Excursions/Tours will proceed as scheduled regardless of attendance, and missing participants will be considered as no shows. Furthermore, all participants, regardless of the excursion/tour(s) booked, must be back in port NO later than one hour of the scheduled cruise ship departure times. Thus, DRET assumes NO liability if the excursion participant(s) fails to comply with the transportation’s directives. If  the participant(s) miss their cruise ship for departure due to their own negligence, DRET assumes no liability.

Proof of Booking/Reservation

Upon meeting the DRET representative for your excursion/tour, booking party is to provide a printed copy (or digital copy) of the paid booking invoice/ticket(s) with valid identification. Failure to do so may result in the cancellation of your excursion/tour and no refund. Furthermore, any additional participants/passengers not accounted for in the booking reservation will not be guaranteed service. DRET reserves the right to reject non disclosed participants/passengers based on availability, capacity, and overall customer experience.


We, here at Discover Roatan Excursions & Tours are really looking forward to having you come on the excursion or tour you signed up for, but we understand that sometimes plans change. You must be aware that there are logistical implications to canceling a trip as transportation, guides, refreshments, and most other elements are coordinated ahead of time. As a result, we operate under the following guidelines and policies. Customers must notify us in writing by email, of their cancellation and pursuant to the “Cancellation Terms” below.

Furthermore, we are located in the western Caribbean and in a tropical environment where weather patterns are not always predictable. Thus, periodic rain, drizzle, and showers are to be expected and do not merit a reason for a cancellation or refund. If the weather is not safe for our island guests, we will cancel the excursion(s) and provide a full refund.


If a customer provides minimum 48 hours notice that they are unable to attend an excursion or tour, DRET will transfer the amount paid toward another DRET service. If the replacement booking has a lower price than the original, a refund of the difference will be returned.

Cancellation Terms

In the event a customer is unable to attend a confirmed booking the following will be applied:

  • More than 72 hours written notice: DRET will provide a company credit or refund full tour amount, minus processing fee of four percent (4%). There is no expiration date for company credit on future excursions.
  • 48-72 hours notice: DRET will refund tour amount less 50%.
  • 48 hours or less, and No Shows : NO refund provided.
  • Cruise Ship fails to dock or tender in Roatan on/before/after scheduled arrival date, DRET will provide full refund, minus processing fee of four percent (4%).

Please remember that although 48 hours is the minimum notice required for a partial refund, the sooner DRET knows that a spot is open the easier it will be for everyone. It is appreciated that as soon as you know you will be absent from a tour that you inform DRET. We thank you in advance. DRET reserves the right to cancel tours, vary itineraries, and amend fares and days of operation.

If WE cancel any trip due to poor weather, mechanical failure, or unsafe conditions, we will reschedule your tour for another time at no additional cost. If this is not an option that works for you, we will do our best to come up with a suitable solution.

There will be times when DRET may cancel an excursion or tour. Please remember that when we are doing so, we are taking into consideration the safety of the group, our guides, and equipment. DRET has the discretion to cancel a tour with the amount paid transferred to another DRET service. If the customer is unable to attend an alternate excursion or tour date, DRET will provide a refund for the full amount, minus the 4% processing fee.

Refund Request Procedures

DRET is not responsible for requests which do not reach our office. Contact DRET at [email protected], with the word “Refund” in the subject line and booking/order number. Please provide a detailed explanation why your booking merits a credit or refund. If a refund is provided, DRET has up to 90 days to complete the refund to the customer.

***Coronavirus (COVID-19)***

The Centers for Disease Control & Preventions (CDC) continues to make changes and recommendations for worldwide travel. However, cruise lines continue travels and itineraries to the Port of Roatan and Mahogany Bay. Thus, a refund request for a booking based on this information will be reviewed carefully before any possible credits or refunds are provided.

Individuals who have a booked an excursion and suffer from the following medical conditions and/or meet the age requirements may request a full refund:

  • Age 60 or older
  • Heart Disease
  • Lung Disease
  • Diabetes

Pursuant to the CDC, older individuals and individuals with these medical conditions are prone to getting very sick from the Coronavirus.

Partial Group Cancellation

If a partial group cancellation is requested, please call or email DRET to confirm the revised number of bookings required at least 48 hours prior to departure date, otherwise above policies will apply. If DRET is not informed of a decrease in numbers the total payment will stand based on original booking details, regardless of the number of participants who arrive.

Waiver Form and Participant Information

All participants are required to complete a Waiver Form prior to leaving from the departure area. Please read these documents carefully before booking your trip to ensure you are comfortable with the terms and conditions in these documents. Participation on any trip will be declined in the absence of the signed and completed Waiver Form, with no refund. No modifications to the terms outlined in the Waiver Form will be accepted. Trip participants are responsible for providing correct information regarding personal details. No refunds will be provided for customers who are unable to complete a tour due to misrepresentation of ability and/or failure to disclose existing health conditions which impact the customer’s ability to complete a tour.


Discover Roatan Excursions & Tours does not carry health, life, property or injury insurance for our trip members, and are not responsible for any expenses incurred for medical reasons. You must be in general good health to participate in our excursions and tours. Anyone with medical problems or restrictions must inform DRET and disclose them to us in advance of the trip. The trip leader has the right to disqualify any member from the group at any time if considered medically necessary. DRET and its affiliates take no responsibility for special arrangements required by passengers physically unable to complete a trip and assume no liability regarding provision of medical care.

Extended Medical Insurance – Your medical insurance should cover you for life and health care risks while in Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras, and in addition should provide for transport to your home country if you reside outside of Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras.

Trip Cancellation Insurance – In view of our cancellation policy, we recommend that all our trip members purchase cancellation insurance.

Personal Property Insurance – Insure your personal belongings against loss. Your homeowner’s insurance may not be enough. Be sure that this insurance covers you while you are visiting.

Transportation Services

Whenever DRET employs services such as taxi, air transport or guiding, DRET acts only as booking agents in regard to that particular part of a trip and can assume NO liability for any actions or defaults of any individual organization with whom such arrangements have been made. Furthermore, DRET assumes NO liability for participants who choose to use any transportation services NOT authorized by DRET. Any expenses incurred by the participant(s) for using an unauthorized transportation company or individual, is at the sole expense and responsibility of that participant(s).

Withdrawal of Participant

DRET reserves the right to require any participant to withdraw from a trip at any time if the trip leader deems his or her acts or conduct to be detrimental to or incompatible with the interest, harmony, comfort or welfare of participants on excursion or tour. Any expenses incurred from removal from a tour will be the responsibility of the individual. Similarly, in the event a trip member decides that he or she would like to leave the trip early, he or she will be responsible for costs associated with return to original departure. In such cases, no refund or credit will be payable or due to the individual.


DRET itineraries are intended as examples only. Participants should allow for flexibility due to changes in weather, natural history, cultural events, or other logistical arrangements deemed necessary by DRET.

Images & Wildlife

Marketing materials may contain photographs that depict typical locations, scenes and animals that may be viewed on Roatan. Imagery may not be a specific representation of the equipment we may use, animals we may see, or weather conditions we may experience. While guides do their best, DRET makes no assurances that wildlife referenced in trip specific marketing material will be seen.

Animal Encounters

Participants must at all times follow the instructions of our guides and staff. Should an individual be overly confident, eager or reckless in approaching an animal, the participant may be withdrawn from a tour or activity. Should an animal be killed because of a provoked attack, a fine per animal may be charged by a wildlife officer. Animals not confined in secured environments may or may not be available for encounters and interactions. Thus, there is no guarantee by the park, sanctuary, or DRET that a certain animal interaction will take place at time of service.


DRET reserves the right to take photographic records during tours and activities for promotional purposes, and travelers grant DRET express permission to use their images for such purposes.

Events Beyond our Control

DRET is not responsible for the affect brought on by events beyond our control on the ability of participants to attend bookings, cancel bookings, or for tours to be conducted. These includes events such as: acts of God, pandemics,  war, terrorism, crime, civil unrest, kidnapping, illness, public unrest or natural disasters and other unforeseen circumstances.
