5. How do we protect visitor information?

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information. Your personal information is contained behind secured networks and is only accessible by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential.

When you place orders or access your personal information, we offer the use of a secure server. All supplied sensitive and especially credit card information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology directly into our Payment gateway providers database only to be accessible by those authorized with special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential.

After a transaction, your private information (credit cards, etc.) will not be kept on file for more than 60 days.

6. Marketing and communications preferences

We may use your information to form a picture of what we think you may want or need, or what may be of interest to you. This is how we decide which products, services and offers may be relevant for you and tell you about them. This is what we call direct marketing.

We may carry out direct marketing by email, phone, text or post. For example, you might have the Discover Roatan newsletter hit your inbox.

On our website, we always try hard to make it really clear what we are doing and what communications you will be sent, whether it’s you deciding to sign up to the Discover Roatan newsletter or as part of creating an account or the purchase journey – and you have a right at any time to change your mind and say no thank you and opt out (but we’d be really sorry to see you go, so please gives us a chance by fine tuning your preferences before really leaving us!). The easiest way to opt out is to use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the communication.

7. How can you opt-out, remove or modify information you have provided to us?

To modify your e-mail subscriptions, please let us know by modifying your preferences in the “My Account” section. Please note that due to email production schedules you may receive any emails already in production.

To delete your online account information from our database, sign into the “My Account” section of our site/app and click “request to delete all my data” to remove your addresses and payment information. We will review your request and take appropriate action within 30 days. Please note that we may maintain information about an individual sales transaction in order to service that transaction and for record keeping and tax compliance.

8. Do we use “cookies”?

Yes. Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your web browser (if you allow) that enables the site’s or service provider’s systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information. For example, we use cookies to help us remember and process the shore excursions on your wishlist. They help discoverroatan.net work better and provide lots of help in the background to make the process of being a discoverroatan.net customer a lot easier. You’d miss a lot of these things if they were gone – like it being easy to log in and move from page to page, and your itinerary preferences staying while you go off to look at other pages. They are also used to help us understand your preferences based on previous or current site activity, which enables us to provide you with improved services. We also use cookies to help us compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction so that we can offer better site experiences and tools in the future.

We may contract with third-party service providers to assist us in better understanding our site visitors. These service providers are not permitted to use the information collected on our behalf except to help us conduct and improve our business.

You can choose to have your computer warn you each time a cookie is being sent, or you can choose to turn off all cookies. You do this through your browser (like Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer) settings. Each browser is a little different, so look at your browser’s Help menu to learn the correct way to modify your cookies. If you turn cookies off, you won’t have access to many features that make your site experience more efficient and some of our services will not function properly. However, you can still place orders over the telephone by contacting customer service.

9. Do we disclose the information we collect to outside parties?

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information. We may share your personal data with the parties set out below for the purposes set out in this privacy policy. We may also share your personal data if the law otherwise allows it. We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site/app policies, or protect ours or others’ rights, property, or safety. Anonymous data may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses.
