About Roatan Shipwreck Snorkel Tour
The Roatan Shipwreck Snorkel Tour is a one of a kind snorkeling adventure. The three spot snorkel visits the Prince Albert shipwreck, Big French Key reef, and the Coco View Wall drop-off. Roatan’s reef, the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, is the second largest reef system on the planet and largest in the western hemisphere, making Roatan a world-class snorkeling and diving destination.
Your snorkel adventure begins in the crystal clear shallows off of Big French Key, in approximately 12-18 feet of water. You will drift calmly across the reef seeing a colorful display of fish, coral, and various other sea creatures.
Thereafter, it’s a short ride to the Coco View Wall. This snorkel spot is a snorkelers favorite at approximately 8-16 feet depth. You will see an array of colorful fish, coral, funnels, eels, and possible turtle sightings. The 100 foot drop-off at the edge of the reef is teaming with fish of all colors and shapes. As you snorkel along the wall, keep an eye out for sea creatures living within the crevices of the coral and sea plants.
The Prince Albert shipwreck is your next stop and highlight of your snorkel tour! The wreck sits at approximately 37 feet of water, completely intact and covered in coral. The shipwreck is clearly visible on most days and home to some large grouper and snapper. Floating above the wreck, your guide will point out fish and other sea creatures while you explore Roatan’s famous shipwreck.
Finally, your snorkel adventure ends in the shallows, in front of Fantasy Island Resort known by locals as “whitewash.” Here you will relax and float for about 30 minutes before heading back to the starting point of your Roatan Shipwreck Snorkel Tour. You will find lobsters, Eagle Rays, and various other sea animals at this location.
NOTE: Captain reserves the right to change snorkel locations for best visibility and safety. This snorkel shore excursion includes all snorkel gear, snacks, sodas, and waters.
