When Will Cruising Resume?
Roatan, Honduras – Earlier this month, the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) extended the “No Sail Order” for the cruise line industry. This has caused several date changes to when cruise ships will resume cruising. Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, and others have already pushed their start dates to June and July. However, these dates seem unrealistic as the cruise ship industry will be faced with new regulations and policies due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Government Requirements For Cruising
The CDC has expressed some frustration with the cruise line industry in recent months, and it expects cooperation for future cruise travel. The cruise lines will have to formulate a plan moving forward to reduce or prevent outbreaks. There’s no way around it, when you have several thousand people in close proximity to each other on a ship and individuals are cruising from various parts the world, elevated measures must be taken.
Keep in mind, cruise ships travel throughout the planet visiting international ports. The United States, EU, and other government agencies may have their own guidelines for cruise lines. We are already seeing some progress, just this past week, Royal Caribbean filed a patent application for a “Seaface” mask. It’s been reported the purpose of the mask is for virus isolation. Hopefully, this is a sign that the cruise ship industry will bounce back.
